Artistic Hands Shaping A New Society (AHSANS) is a nonprofit Arts Initiative, created to encourage and promote the arts. The arts allow many children to express themselves in ways content areas do not. Students become more confident and productive when they are offered an opportunity to express and share their thoughts and emotions through the arts.

However, many school districts across the country either do not offer the arts to students or have limitations. Some limitations include lack of funding, funding allocations, scheduling conflicts, and other circumstances. Though plausible, these scenarios continue to leave many students feeling incomplete. The reality is, students should not be forced to choose between core subjects and the arts. As a society we want our students to be well versed; therefore, we must dedicate ourselves to educating the whole child.

Part of the AHSANS mission is to provide materials to students in programs dedicated to music, painting, dance, theatre, et al. In addition, professional artists will be invited to perform at schools and other AHSANS events. It is vital for students to see, hear and experience artistic performances at the professional level.

Gun violence is at an all time high and we are losing young lives at devastating rates. At AHSANS we believe: “While it takes one hand to hold a gun, it takes two to create the arts.” So, let’s commit to occupying young people’s hands and minds to unveil their creative spirits.

Admittedly, AHSANS is not a panacea; however, with collaborative efforts we intend to save the future of as many young people as we can reach. Together, we can demonstrate how much we care about our children’s future, and through the arts, make that future an even brighter one.
