Karl Siewertsen is a dedicated music educator holding Summa Cum Laude Bachelor’s Degrees in French Horn Performance and Music Education from the Ithaca College School of Music, and a MALS degree from SUNY Stony Brook with a focus in the arts. His 17 year career as a music educator has allowed him to work with students in 4 schools across all grade levels, abilities and demographics. He currently directs the High School Band, Jazz Band and Pit Orchestra at Plainedge High School in N. Massapequa, NY. Karl is also a long time member of the Nassau Music Educators Association Executive Board and has just been elected to a 2 year term as President for the organization. His teaching experience and credentials have also landed him as a 4 time GRAMMY Music Educator of the year Quarterfinalist.
As a performing musician, Karl has performed with the Long Island Youth Orchestra, Nassau-Suffolk Alumni Band, Atlantic Wind Symphony, Sound Symphony and the Massapequa Philharmonic. He has performed as an orchestra musician and featured soloist in 42 countries across 6 continents. He is a member of the Bethpage Village Restoration Brass Band where he performed on historic time period instruments as a Civil War reenactor.
Karl continues to work tirelessly on multiple artistic fronts to fulfill his personal musical ambitions, and to provide a wide array of musical and artistic opportunities for local children to discover and inspire the next generation of young artists.
